Guide 01

First Launch & Standalone Run

After installing from the Mac App Store, launch the Standalone application once before opening your DAW. This initialises local resources and registers the AUv3 plugin with macOS.

CoreAudio Interface & Buffer Tuning

To minimise latency, connect your audio interface directly to your Mac. We recommend a buffer size of 128 or 256 samples at 48 kHz for general recording and live jamming, or 64 samples for ultra-low latency tracking.

Local Storage & Preset Management

All user presets, custom colour schemes, and favourite folders are stored locally on your Mac (in ~/Library/Application Support/OMNIFORMA/). You can backup, copy, or share your .omnipreset files freely across machines without cloud accounts or DRM logins.

AUv3 Plugin Host Integration

Our Audio Unit (AUv3) plugin runs inside standard macOS host containers (such as Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, and Reaper). This guide covers basic plugin insertion and operation. Omniforma™ Reference Manual

Complete engineering guide for the Standalone macOS application and AUv3 plugin. Omniforma™ combines dual-parallel Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) processing, 6-band tone stacks, 4-band parametric equalisers, convolution impulse response cabinets, tube power amp emulation, and a 14-pedal studio effects chain.

Scope Note: This manual covers the standalone application and standard AUv3 plugin operation. For third-party DAW track routing, project busing, audio buffer settings within your host, or DAW-level issues, please consult your respective DAW software provider.

Quick Start in 4 Steps

Step 01

Configure Audio & Sample Rate

In Standalone mode, navigate to the SETUP tab. Select your audio interface under the Audio Device menu. Set the sample rate to 48 kHz and the buffer size to 128 or 256 samples. Click the Audio Power toggle in the top header to engage the DSP engine.

Step 02

Load Neural Rigs & Cabinet IRs

In the EXPLORER tab, browse factory or custom .nam neural models in the left column and .wav cabinet IRs in the middle column. Drag files directly onto the Rig A Amp, Rig A Cab, Rig B Amp, or Rig B Cab drop zones.

Step 03

Adjust Tone in Workstation

Switch to the WORKSTATION tab to adjust the 6-band tone stack, 4-band parametric equaliser, virtual microphone distance and axis, and power amp sag, bloom, and transformer drive.

Step 04

Select Pedals in Effects Rack

Open the PEDALBOARD tab to access all 14 studio effects pedals. Click any pedal to inspect and tweak parameters (pitch shifting, overdrives, gated fuzz, optical compression, tape delay, chorus, and shimmer reverb).

Module 01

6-Band Active EQ Tone Stack

Tailored tone stack situated immediately after the neural amp inference core. Provides continuous boost and cut across 6 musical frequency centers: Sub/Low (80 Hz), Low-Mid (250 Hz), Mid (750 Hz), Mid-High (2 kHz), High (5 kHz), and Presence (8 kHz).

Module 02

4-Band Parametric Equaliser

Four constant-Q biquad parametric EQ bands with continuous Frequency (20 Hz – 20 kHz), Gain (±18 dB), and Q Bandwidth (0.1 to 10.0). Ideal for notching out harsh cabinet resonances or tailoring low-end warmth.

Module 03

Convolution IR & Virtual Mic

Zero-latency convolution engine supporting 24-bit and 32-bit float impulse responses. Features a 2D virtual microphone placement engine with Distance (0%–100%), Off-Axis Angle (0°–45°), and Phase Inversion (0°/180°).

Module 04

Tube Power Amp Emulation

Dynamic analog power section modeling. Sag emulates power supply voltage drop on heavy transients; Bloom adds harmonic expansion; Transformer Drive adds warm core saturation; Dynamic Bias controls crossover distortion behavior.

Anubis Pitch Shifter
POLYPHONIC PITCH TRANSPOSER & SUB-OCTAVE CORE

01. Anubis Pitch Shifter

Zero-latency polyphonic pitch shifting and sub-octave generation engine. Enables instant virtual drop tunings (e.g., E Standard to Drop D, C, or B) without retuning physical guitar strings, plus massive dual sub-octaves for heavy synth-bass weight.

Transpose -24 to +24 Semi

Polyphonic pitch shift in continuous semitone steps. Down-tunes or transposes full chords with zero tracking lag.

Sub 1 0% to 100% (-12st)

Blends in the first sub-octave (-1 octave down). Adds fundamental body to single-note riffs and power chords.

Sub 2 0% to 100% (-24st)

Blends in the second sub-octave (-2 octaves down) for monolithic low-end weight and industrial textures.

Punch (HPF) 20 Hz – 400 Hz

Grain Quality Tight to Smooth

Adjusts the granular synthesis analysis window size. Lower for rapid picking speed; higher for complex chordal smoothness.

Dry / Wet Mix 0% to 100%

Balances dry guitar signal with transposed and sub-octave output. Set to 100% wet for pure drop-tuning.

Recommended Setting (Instant Drop-D / C): Transpose: -2 to -4 semitones, Punch: 90 Hz, Grain: Center, Mix: 100% Wet. Place first in chain before overdrives.
Time Loaf Modulator
VINTAGE MODULATED TAPE & BBD ECHO

02. Time Loaf Modulator

Vintage modulated delay line combining bucket-brigade analog warmth with organic motor wow and flutter. Features warm high-frequency roll-off on repeats and self-oscillating feedback regeneration.

Delay Time 10 ms – 2000 ms

Sets delay buffer length from tight slapback doubling (10–50 ms) to long rhythmic repeats (2000 ms).

Feedback 0% to 120%

Controls the number of repeat regeneration cycles. Settings above 100% initiate musical self-oscillation.

Wow & Flutter 0% to 100%

Introduces subtle tape capstan speed drift, generating rich chorus-like pitch modulation on repeats.

Tone / Filter 200 Hz – 12 kHz

Analog low-pass damping filter that progressively warms and darkens decaying delay trails.

Mix Blend 0% to 100%

Direct dry-to-delayed signal blend. 20–35% for solo lead thickening; 50% for rhythmic dotted-eighth patterns.

OPTICAL STUDIO COMPRESSOR & HARMONIC BLOOM

03. Flora Comp

Studio-grade optical compressor modeled after vintage light-dependent resistor (LDR) circuits. Delivers smooth program-dependent envelope release, singing sustain bloom, and transparent transient attack control.

Bloom / Sustain Threshold & Ratio

Controls compression intensity. Pulls up decaying quiet notes for long, smooth sustain without harsh pumping.

Attack Speed 1 ms – 80 ms

Adjusts onset response. Slower settings let pick attack transients pass through before optical compression engages.

Clarity / Air Boost at 8 kHz

High-shelf presence boost that counteracts top-end dulling under heavy compression, restoring acoustic chime.

Makeup Level -12 dB to +24 dB

Output gain stage to restore unity volume or push subsequent overdrive and amplifier models.

Soft-Clip Drive 0% to 100%

Engages optical photocell preamp saturation, adding warm second-order harmonic distortion to peaks.

PRECISION MODERN OVERDRIVE & PRE-AMP TIGHTENER

04. Ammit OD

High-headroom transparent overdrive engineered specifically to tighten neural amplifier front-ends. Features active Low Cut and High Cut tone filters, dynamic pick attack response, and switchable asymmetric harmonic grit.

Drive 0 dB to +36 dB

Controls overdrive clipping gain stage. From transparent clean boost (0–15%) to saturated crunch (60–100%).

Output Level -inf to +20 dB

High-output master level designed to push neural amplifier models into natural tube-like front-end saturation.

Tone (Tilt EQ) Bass / Treble Pivot

Active tilt equaliser pivoting around 1 kHz. Clockwise boosts treble brightness while gently scooping lower mids.

Low Cut (Tightener) 20 Hz – 350 Hz

Pre-clipping high-pass filter that removes flubby bass frequencies before distortion, keeping palm mutes tight.

BOUTIQUE GATED & SCOOPED HARMONIC FUZZ

05. Fuzzy Duck

Raw vintage transistor fuzz circuit with active collector voltage starving and an integrated ultra-fast optical noise gate. Delivers everything from 70s rock fuzz sustain to spitty, gated velcro sputter.

Fuzz Gain 0 dB to +50 dB

Sets the saturation level across cascading discrete transistor stages.

Starve / Bias 3.5V – 9.0V

Regulates transistor collector voltage. Lower settings simulate a dying battery for spitty, gated velcro tones.

Velcro Noise Gate Off to -40 dB

Fast optical gate that clamps shut instantly on note release for abrupt, dead-silent riff pauses without hiss.

RESONANT AUTO-WAH & KILLSWITCH DELAY

06. The Bowl-Check

Dual-mode rhythmic envelope modulator with integrated stereo delay. Switches between dynamic resonant State-Variable Auto-Wah (200 Hz – 5 kHz) and a sharp square-wave Killswitch chopper.

Toggles between dynamic envelope bandpass wah and rhythmic square-wave stutter killswitch.

Hybrid modulation engine combining switchable 4-stage OTA and 8-stage optical phasers with Sample & Hold stepped filtering, plus a through-zero jet flanger with deep comb resonance.

Sets the modulation cycle speed from slow spatial swirls to rapid rotary flutter.

09. Cowboy EQ

Ten studio constant-Q biquad bandpass filter bands with zero phase distortion. Provides ±12 dB boost/cut per band for precision tone shaping before the amplifier or post-cabinet balancing.

Sub Bands (31 / 62 Hz) ±12 dB Boost/Cut

31 Hz removes sub-audible rumble; 62 Hz shapes low-end cabinet thump and palm-mute punch.

Low Mids (125 / 250 Hz) ±12 dB Boost/Cut

10. Reel Echo

Faithful physical modeling of the iconic discrete solid-state EP-3 tape delay. Features discrete JFET preamp coloration, motor mechanical imperfections, magnetic tape head saturation, and progressive repeat aging.

Simulates physical sliding tape playback head positioning along the magnetic loop.

11. Nebula Rev

High-density studio algorithmic reverb utilizing a parallel comb-diffuser matrix. Sweeps from tight studio rooms to vast cathedral spaces with high-frequency air absorption damping and pre-delay transient separation.

RT60 reverb tail length from tight room reflections to endless ambient washes.

POLYPHONIC SHIMMER & HARMONISER CLOUD

12. Rainbow

Cascading polyphonic shimmer harmoniser and pitch feedback cloud. Feeds pitch-shifted upper octaves into a dense reverb feedback loop, generating celestial harmonic bloom and ambient synthesizer-like pads.

Selects the pitch transposition interval fed back into the reverberant loop.

GRANULAR GLITCH & LO-FI BIT CRUSHER

13. Glitch Cloud

Real-time granular micro-sampler, stochastic buffer repeater, and digital word-length bit reducer. Slices guitar transients into microscopic grains, transposes pitch, degrades sample resolution, and creates rhythmic freeze stutter effects.

Grain Size 5 ms – 500 ms

Slices the incoming audio buffer into micro-grains. Shorter settings create metallic buzz; longer settings create rhythmic stutter.

Trigger Sensitivity Dynamic Threshold

Sets the dynamic threshold for capturing new grain slices based on pick transient attack.

Pitch Shift -24st to +24st / Rev

Transposes the playback pitch of active grains in real-time or reverses grain playback direction.

Bit Crush Degrade 16-bit to 3-bit

Reduces ADC sample word length, adding vintage digital aliasing, grit, and industrial crunch.

Latches current micro-grains into an indefinite stutter loop for rhythmic transition breaks.

Quantum Comb
RESONANT HARMONIC COMB & FORMANT FILTER

14. Quantum Comb

Physical modeling resonator using tunable feedback comb filters and formant shapers. Synthesizes metallic acoustic body resonances, sitar-like harmonic ringing, and vocal vowel formant filtering driven by pick velocity.

Comb Frequency 40 Hz – 5 kHz

Tunes the fundamental resonant pitch and delay line length of the comb filter.

Resonance (Q) 0% to 99%

Feedback sharpness. High settings produce ringing, tuned metallic oscillations and synthetic feedback.

Formant Interval Harmonic Series

Selects musical harmonic intervals and vocal vowel formant curves (A, E, I, O, U).

Dynamic Attack 0% to 100%

Modulates comb resonance and filter sweep depth dynamically according to guitar pick velocity.

Decay Release Short to Infinite

Time duration for resonant comb oscillations to dissipate after picking stops.

Resonator Mix 0% to 100%

Direct dry-to-resonator balance.

Recommended Setting (Metallic Sitar Resonance): Comb Freq: 880 Hz (A5), Resonance: 82%, Formant: 5th, Dynamic Attack: 45%, Mix: 30%.

Jam Mode Dual-Player Guide

Jam Mode Configuration (2 Players, 1 Mac): If you have a multichannel audio interface with 2 or more instrument inputs, plug Player 1 into Input 1 and Player 2 into Input 2. In Omniforma™ Standalone, route Input 1 to Rig A and Input 2 to Rig B. Each player receives an independent neural amp model, cabinet simulation, and dedicated 14-pedal effects rack—allowing two musicians to jam together through one Mac with low real-time latency.

Stereo Hard-Panning Recommendation: Pan Rig A hard left (100% L) and Rig B hard right (100% R) in the Workstation tab to achieve complete acoustic separation without clashing. (Requires stereo output via headphones or stereo studio monitors).

Gain Staging & Tone Setup Guidelines

Tip 01

Calibrate Interface Input Gain

Ensure your audio interface's hardware instrument gain isn't set too high (avoid red clipping lights on your interface meters). Digital clipping at the input degrades neural model accuracy. Click the Auto-Trim button in the footer while playing hard to set the input headroom for Neural Amp Modeler captures.

Tip 02

Gain Staging Dirt (Start Small & Work Up)

When using overdrive, distortion, or fuzz pedals (like Ammit OD or Fuzzy Duck), start with lower gain/fuzz settings and gradually work your way up. Stacking excessive pedal gain into an already high-gain neural amp creates unwanted mud and hiss. A practical guideline: keep pedal Drive around 20–40% and use higher Level to push the tube front-end naturally.

Tip 03

Tighten Bass Before High Gain

To prevent flubby, boomy low-end on heavy rhythm riffs, engage the Low Cut knob on Ammit OD or use the 4-band parametric EQ to gently roll off frequencies below 80–100 Hz before the amplifier core. This keeps palm-muted chugs tight, punchy, and articulate.

Tip 04

Shape Mic Axis & Tube Power Sag

Small cabinet mic adjustments make noticeable tonal differences. Moving the virtual mic slightly off-axis (15°–30°) smooths out harsh top-end fizz without dulling clarity. Use the Sag and Bloom knobs in the Power Amp section to add tube compression and dynamic feel.

AUv3 Plugin & Host Integration

Integration 01

macOS AUv3 Registration

Always launch the Standalone application once immediately after installing or updating from the Mac App Store. This registers the Audio Unit Component extension with macOS and makes it discoverable across all AUv3 host DAWs.

Integration 02

MIDI Learn & Controller Mapping

Omniforma™ includes a built-in MIDI Learn engine. Right-click any knob, slider, or pedal bypass switch and choose MIDI Learn, then move your hardware MIDI pedal or expression controller to map parameters instantly.

All user presets and custom colour schemes are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/OMNIFORMA/ as human-readable .omnipreset files. You can freely backup or copy this directory across multiple Macs without cloud sync locks or DRM constraints.
