After installing from the Mac App Store, launch the Standalone application once before opening your DAW. This initialises local resources and registers the AUv3 plugin with macOS.
To minimise latency, connect your audio interface directly to your Mac. We recommend a buffer size of 128 or 256 samples at 48 kHz for general recording and live jamming, or 64 samples for ultra-low latency tracking.
All user presets, custom colour schemes, and favourite folders are stored locally on your Mac (in ~/Library/Application Support/OMNIFORMA/). You can backup, copy, or share your .omnipreset files freely across machines without cloud accounts or DRM logins.
Our Audio Unit (AUv3) plugin runs inside standard macOS host containers (such as Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, and Reaper). This guide covers basic plugin insertion and operation. In Standalone mode, navigate to the SETUP tab. Select your audio interface under the Audio Device menu. Set the sample rate to 48 kHz and the buffer size to 128 or 256 samples. Click the Audio Power toggle in the top header to engage the DSP engine.
In the EXPLORER tab, browse factory or custom .nam neural models in the left column and .wav cabinet IRs in the middle column. Drag files directly onto the Rig A Amp, Rig A Cab, Rig B Amp, or Rig B Cab drop zones.
Switch to the WORKSTATION tab to adjust the 6-band tone stack, 4-band parametric equaliser, virtual microphone distance and axis, and power amp sag, bloom, and transformer drive.

Ensure your audio interface's hardware instrument gain isn't set too high (avoid red clipping lights on your interface meters). Digital clipping at the input degrades neural model accuracy. Click the Auto-Trim button in the footer while playing hard to set the input headroom for Neural Amp Modeler captures.
When using overdrive, distortion, or fuzz pedals (like Ammit OD or Fuzzy Duck), start with lower gain/fuzz settings and gradually work your way up. Stacking excessive pedal gain into an already high-gain neural amp creates unwanted mud and hiss. A practical guideline: keep pedal Drive around 20–40% and use higher Level to push the tube front-end naturally.
To prevent flubby, boomy low-end on heavy rhythm riffs, engage the Low Cut knob on Ammit OD or use the 4-band parametric EQ to gently roll off frequencies below 80–100 Hz before the amplifier core. This keeps palm-muted chugs tight, punchy, and articulate.
Small cabinet mic adjustments make noticeable tonal differences. Moving the virtual mic slightly off-axis (15°–30°) smooths out harsh top-end fizz without dulling clarity. Use the Sag and Bloom knobs in the Power Amp section to add tube compression and dynamic feel.
Always launch the Standalone application once immediately after installing or updating from the Mac App Store. This registers the Audio Unit Component extension with macOS and makes it discoverable across all AUv3 host DAWs.
Omniforma™ includes a built-in MIDI Learn engine. Right-click any knob, slider, or pedal bypass switch and choose MIDI Learn, then move your hardware MIDI pedal or expression controller to map parameters instantly.
1. In Standalone mode, check that the Audio Power toggle in the top header is switched ON.
2. Verify your audio interface is selected in the SETUP tab under Audio Device.
3. Ensure input monitoring is active and click the Auto-Trim button in the footer to automatically calibrate your guitar's input gain level.
4. Check that Master Volume is turned up and neither Rig A nor Rig B is fully bypassed.
1. Ensure you have launched the Standalone application at least once to register the plugin with macOS.
2. Open your AUv3-compatible DAW (e.g. Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, Reaper).
3. On your audio track, click on an Audio FX insert slot.
4. Select AUv3 > Hearten Systems Ltd > Omniforma™.
5. The full workstation interface will open inside your track with complete parameter automation support.

In the EXPLORER tab, you can navigate your Mac's file system or set a default folder in SETUP > Paths. You can also drag and drop any .nam file or .wav impulse response file directly from Finder into the drop zones on the right side of the Explorer tab.
Omniforma™ is lightweight (consuming only ~4.89% DSP load at 256 samples). To optimise further on older Intel Macs: go to SETUP > Theme and switch rendering from 60 FPS to 30 FPS mode to reduce UI GPU cycles, set your audio buffer to 256 samples, and bypass any unused pedal modules.
All user presets and custom colour schemes are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/OMNIFORMA/ as human-readable .omnipreset files. You can freely backup or copy this directory across multiple Macs without cloud sync locks or DRM constraints.
